2020 The Year That Will Define Your Future
2020 The Year That Will Define Your Future
What’s in Store for 2020?
This is a 4 universal year in numerology which signifies a time to be contentiousness, responsible, and disciplined in order to stabilize aspects of your life. In tarot, the Emperor card, ruled by the planet Saturn, reminds us that discipline, structure, sacrifice, and self-empowerment must be utilized to create and maintain structure for long term growth. Knee-jerk reactions, immaturity, or allowing yourself to be subjugated will not serve you at this time.
The last few years and especially 2019 may have brought growth through major change. In the mist of change, feelings of uncertainty, powerlessness, and being unprepared are common and also frustrating. The good news is that with each passing day you have gotten used those transitions. What was once unfamiliar is starting to feel more normal. Now can now begin to focus on ways to build structure, create processes, and learn mastery in these areas.
Patients is key; don’t expect to have everything figured out in a few months. The universal year 4 is accompanied by 0 (2+2+0+0) which signifies the emergence of new energy. Another way to look at it that you are being universally guided to create new structure, discipline, foundations, and methodologies. This year is about researching, testing, and learning how to use emerging energies to your advantage for long term growth. You can’t rush into things, this process will take the entire year. 2021 will be when you actually implement the things you are figuring out this year.
Planets to Watch in 2020
Saturn conjunct Pluto
We start the year with the planets Pluto (fear/death/rebirth) in a rare meet-up with Saturn (discipline/maturity/authority). These two planets meet up every 34 years or twice in a life time. The result are long lasting, defining changes that will impact you for the long term. The connect will be exact on January 12th; however, the energy will be strongly felt from December 2019 – February 2020. This connection is potent, intense, and could feel harsh or depressive; anger, sadness, and conflict are very possible. There is strong possibility of clashes with authority figures, parents, partners, and even the law (or people whose job it is to uphold “rules”). Internally, you’ll be dealing the breakdown of old foundations and beliefs such as your guiding principles, beliefs about yourself, or having to detach from the way you were conditioned by your parents (especially your father). Despite its difficulty, this alignment is a catalyst for major change. It will close doors, end cycles, and liberate you from situations and fears that have been holding you back both internally and externally. As I mentioned, patients is necessary the process goes through February. During this time your job is to allow change to happen and manage it in a productive way. Look for the lessons, go with-in yourself for self understanding and find healthy supportive practices to help you navigate the difficulties. When it’s over, a time of rebirth, positivity, and expansion will enter.
Jupiter conjuct Pluto
These planets will come together 3 times through out 2020 in April, June, and November. These meet-ups offer a quarterly opportunity for high-level achievement. After the intense Saturn/Pluto connection, Pluto and Jupiter will feel like a much needed deep breath of relief. The universe will gift you with optimistic energy, luck, and a sense of rebirth. These planets together are triggering both your internal sense of purpose as well as your higher purpose and how you impact the world. The growth you experience during these times will be impactful and last long into the future. Remember, this year you will be experimenting, learning, and figuring out what is the best way to build stability. Jupiter/Pluto conjunctions will be times of pay-off for the work you put in.
Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter Retrograde
These three planets go retrograde in May for about 4.5-5 months. During this time we are being forced to revisit the choices, decisions, and situation that we made earlier in the year. You are learning mastery but you haven’t figured it all out yet; so of course you can expect to make some rookie mistakes. While these planets are retrograde you’ll likely experience power-struggles, being called out for any slack, having to take responsibility for your decisions, and slow-downs in areas where you were recently thriving. Use the retrograde months for analysis and repair. Step back and look at how things are developing. If you find weakness or mistakes, make corrective actions. Own up to your mistakes and do what you can to fix or improve the situation.
Venus Retrograde May 12 – June 24
When Venus is retrograde is time to take a look at the value of your relationships, partnerships, and ultimately self-worth. This isn’t the time to rush into a new relationship or make commitments because things will likely come undone when Venus goes direct. Absolutely do not get married during this time. If you meet someone new take things slow. If you want more commitment in a current relationship (romantic or business) wait until Venus is direct to make it things official. The flow of money could slow down so watch your spending and don’t over extend your resources (financial, time, or energy). This period is also taboo for making major changes to your looks. Subtle updates are OK, but major haircuts, dye jobs, or wardrobe changes will likely end in a major fail!
Jupiter conjunct Saturn
Earlier I said that 2020 is meant to help us get a firm handle on things and in 2021 we’ll be ready to take action to start moving things forward. When Jupiter and Saturn join forces in December we’ll be given a taste of what’s to come in 2021. This connection happens once every 20 years, the success you experience around this time will shape your future for years to come. Jupiter brings expansion and Saturn is structure, foundations, and authority. The things you have been in the work to master this year will be reinforced during this time. When you have a sturdy foundation (Saturn) things will start to grow (Jupiter). If you are ready, your efforts will be a signal to the universe that you are ready for more! It’s likely we will also experience social change during this time as well. A generation spans 20 years, this connection signifies a change in social and collective norms. The legal, financial, technological, and social happenings that will emerging will shape future generations and bring a departure from previous generations expectations, beliefs, and structures.
